Do you ever get tired and feel like throwing in the towel?

That changes minute by minute half the time.

Yeah. I can relate. Even if it's less frequent.

Don't you ever get lonely?

Once in a while, yes. But I'm far too used to being alone that other people being around generally annoys me. I've been told it's called social anxiety.

Maybe the kid will help you deal with that.

Actually, I'm more concerned I'll turn them into the same as me.

If you are concerned with it now, at least you can prepare and find ways to avoid it. But at least you know for sure the child won't have the same childhood you did.

It is somewhat all but impossible for that to happen at this point, yes. Not that you know anything about my childhood.

Do you ever trust anyone completely?

No. Never. I can't afford to.

Do you think you ever will?

I don't know. I have in the past and it's backfired quite spectacularly.

But I bet it felt good when you were doing it.

That's not worth finding out it was never true to begin with on their end.

Maybe not. But it could be true with someone one day.

I'm not willing to allow myself to get far enough to find out.

But you might miss out on something great.

Based on past experience, I'll be saving myself from something I need to never go through again.

It isn't that. To be fair, my expectations were somewhat unattainable.

Let's just say they were ... rather idealistic.

I thought there would be more of a concrete plan. Whether that counts as 'simpler' or not, I don't know.

I'm sure we could. But what that more is I haven't the faintest idea at the moment.

Well, I'm sure we'll find out with time. If we're meant to.

Why are you so angry?

I'm not, actually, most of the time. But when I am it's usually because I'm frustrated and annoyed that things aren't happening the way I want them to.

What are you really scared of?

Finding out everything I've gone through has been for nothing.

Believe it or not, I hope that isn't the case.
