One of Oliver's silly little friends decided to claim Metropolis in the name of Egypt. Not happening, so I may need your army. It's not like they couldn't use the practice.

Egypt? What are you talking about?

I don't know. Some whacked out Egypt supporter. Does it matter?

I have explained. He wants to claim Metropolis for Egypt. And I mean really it's a totally Greek name so I don't even know how he's going to justify it, but it's not going to happen anyway, because I won't let him.

Since when are you Metropolis' great defender? And since when are my soldiers something to be used whenever some threat against the city arises?

I live here. My headquarters are here. I will not so easily give it up for some yahoo's whim. As I said, I thought they could use the practice since they've been languishing for so long.

This is hardly the first time 'some yahoo' has shown up with a threatening whim. You honestly believe he's going to take over Metropolis?

Well now, Major, if your skills at Mercer communication were better than mediocre, perhaps you'd already know if I were being serious or not.

There is some yahoo threatening to claim Metropolis for Egypt and I did happen to mention I had an army, but I think if it really comes down to it we'll rock, paper, scissors for it.

My Mercer communication skills may be better than you think. I'm quite aware that, if it were a real threat against Metropolis, you'd have gone straight to Kal-El and told me absolutely nothing about any of it unless it became necessary. Which would be why I didn't 'ready the troops' at your call.

And you should know that your sense of humor appears to be seriously lacking as well.

What makes you think I'd tell Kal-El and not you?

I may be your partner, but he's your heroic savior. And he'd help merely for the sake of the city. I'd ask too many questions and approach the situation as a military leader, which I've no doubt you wouldn't want to deal with. He also has powers that we're lacking. He's the easier, more efficient choice.

And as for why you wouldn't tell me, no doubt you'd see no reason to.

And yet I didn't go to him about our mysterious alien problem, nor does he know I have the Book of Rao. I didn't tell him what the Towers were really for and I certainly haven't told him we're trying to speed up the process for you specifically. Frankly, Major, I don't go to him for anything.

Some yahoo threatening to take Metropolis in the name of Egypt is hardly the same thing. If, for whatever reason, you decided to attend to such a matter yourself, would you really come to me for help?
