It's not unusual for Tess to be entertaining a guest. It's really not unusual for that guest to be Zod. What isn't the norm is that he's not the only person she's expecting.

It's time, they've decided, to put their plan into action, to attempt to rid themselves of one of the nuisances in their lives. Darkseid has been summoned to the mansion on the pretext of potentially another adventure or evening of games. Security has been told to notify Tess when he arrives and everything else is in place for what's really going to take place. Or so she - and Zod - hope.

So until he does make his presence known, they'll just have to wait. One way or another, it's going to be an interesting evening.
have_no_mercy: (wasn't expecting that)
It's Enid, Oklahoma this time and Tess has upgraded her lodgings from a tiny, roadside motel to a comfortable bed & breakfast. She knows she can't stay too long, but she'll enjoy the semi-luxury while it lasts.

Or at least she was enjoying it until she got the newspaper - an actual copy of the Daily Planet - and a write-up about the opening of a certain new restaurant caught her eye. Tess isn't sure what to think about that and she hates that she wasn't there to hear about it sooner. Being blindsided is not her favourite feeling.

But there's nothing to be done about it, aside from stew and plot and think, which are things Tess does very well, despite them hardly ever leading her toward anything good. And she finds herself almost wishing for a distraction.
have_no_mercy: (thinking things over)
It's not unusual for Tess to remain working in the study into the wee hours of the morning. What isn't usual is for her to be waiting for company, even if the hours aren't quite so wee as yet. It's still late and worse, she has little idea what she may be getting herself into.

Which also isn't usual, but sometimes these kinds of risks have to be taken and she's the only one, in her opinion, who can put themselves on the line right now.

That doesn't mean Tess isn't going to be pacing until her guest arrives.
have_no_mercy: (workaholic)
This is so very much not something Tess would normally do, but her interest had been piqued. Beyond that, she has a feeling her new acquaintance isn't just propping up his own ego. There's something about him that has her instincts telling her to not only be cautious, but to be open to hearing him out. And her instincts are rarely wrong.

Security at the mansion is on high alert. Is it a mistake to allow someone she doesn't know into her home? Possibly. But it's the place she feels safest. And, Tess thinks, he knows far too much already to accept a meeting anywhere else.

So she sits in her study and waits for security to advise that her guest has arrived.
