It's not unusual for Tess to be entertaining a guest. It's really not unusual for that guest to be Zod. What isn't the norm is that he's not the only person she's expecting.

It's time, they've decided, to put their plan into action, to attempt to rid themselves of one of the nuisances in their lives. Darkseid has been summoned to the mansion on the pretext of potentially another adventure or evening of games. Security has been told to notify Tess when he arrives and everything else is in place for what's really going to take place. Or so she - and Zod - hope.

So until he does make his presence known, they'll just have to wait. One way or another, it's going to be an interesting evening.

"You're the one who brought up that particular compliance to begin with," she reminds him. "I'm talking about in general."

He searches her gaze for a moment longer with growing amusement before shrugging slightly. "Right, well, if you'd like to hear my opinion on the matter, I think you already have enough pets as it is."

"Do I?" She seems to find this just as amusing as he does. "I think I have plenty of room for one more."

"Well, as enjoyable as that sounds," he starts softly, running a finger absently up Tess' face, "I'm afraid it's not my destiny."

"Shame. I'd even have built you your own little house outside." Tess leans in just the slightest bit more and then sighs softly. "I suppose I'll simply have to revert back to my hospitable ways instead."

"I suppose you will, yes," he sighs back, further lifting his finger to brush back a tuft of her hair. "Though I don't see the harm in extending an invitation on occasion. I just can't promise I'll always be able to come when I'm called."

He pauses a moment and runs his eyes down over her face before meeting her gaze again. "But I am here now."

"That you are," she agrees quietly, taking a moment of her own for consideration before continuing. "So perhaps I should play good hostess and get you a drink before we make some sort of rash decision to enjoy your mere presence."

"Rash decision?" Darkseid lifts an eyebrow at her, and his smile turns knowing again. "And here I thought we were against cautiousness from the beginning."

"True," she says, starting to get to her feet. "But then, decision making is also terribly unlike us. I'd hate for this to be the reason we start changing that."

He leans back against the back of the couch to study her calmly. "Not letting things happen is also very unlike us."

"I'm simply going to be hospitable," she explains as calmly, then leans down toward him, stopping just shy of their lips meeting. "And when I get back, que sera sera."
